So, I'm originally from Albuquerque and You can expect to pay around $3,189 for rent here. Homes are going for about $576,200 on average. With a population of 10,090, Waldwick is a small town. Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Let me know your thoughts. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 3 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've been living here for 11 years and I'd say the quality of life is solid. The community vibe is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value public transit, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely solid and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (West) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Used to live on the Highland side, now on the Riverside side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.
