Waldwick job market vs Houston

First post here. The unemployment rate is 1.9%, which is pretty low.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely challenging and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Dating scene is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is underrated in most areas.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want traffic, then yeah this place is great. But if cultural scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Dallas about 10 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Close to major attractions
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is decent.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Feel free to reach out with questions..
