OK so My family moved here when I was a kid. Homes are going for about $221,500 on average. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. What neighborhoods would you suggest? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say it was the best decision I ever made. The cost of living is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is better than expected in most areas.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Midtown. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in construction. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Korean.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if nightlife matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Atlanta about 9 years ago. The main reasons were school and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are stable, gas is underrated.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in West for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Four distinct seasons
- The public transit scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Rising rent and home prices
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. No regrets on my end..

As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much pricey but now it's decent.

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 2 years here, that's my honest assessment.
