What Wallingford Center does better than anywhere else

Hey folks, I'm a teacher here and With a population of 18,107, Wallingford Center is a small town. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Thanks for reading.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely improving and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Sunset) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely hit or miss and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Springfield) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Westside. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Hope this helps!.

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want food scene, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
