How is Wallington for outdoor activities?

So, My family moved here when I was a kid. Crime rate is something to consider -Wallington sits at 77.8 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $1,568 for rent here. Poverty rate is 10.6%, which is around average. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

I'm a social worker and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is challenging and there's always something going on.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 9 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in East area are average. Kids love it here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely decent and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Sunset) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
