Quick question about Wallington

Alright, We have two kids and The median home value here is around $493,700, which is pretty steep. Median household income is $82,422, which feels pretty solid for the area. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in South. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in education. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

No regrets on my end..

We moved here with our family and it exceeded my expectations. Schools in North area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

I've been living here for 10 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor recreation is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Austin about 6 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Four distinct seasons
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are competitive, gas is solid.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a sales manager, 55, moved here 11 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Eastside and East, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Lots of new development happening
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The safety situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Eastside: Great for young professionals. tough vibes, walkable.
- East: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $80K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I work in marketing here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is improving. Definitely worth checking out..
