Studio apartments in Walnut Creek -options?

Hi all, I'm a college student here and Household incomes average around $135,665 in Walnut Creek. Median household income is $135,665, which feels pretty solid for the area. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Anyone in a similar situation? Thanks in advance! It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

The food scene here is surprisingly good. Tons of great farm-to-table places. the quality of life is solid.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 15 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

We moved here with our family and I genuinely enjoy living here. Schools in Uptown area are average. Kids love it here.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is improving in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Austin about 12 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are established, gas is underrated.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Good luck with whatever you decide..

As someone who grew up here, it's been a really good experience overall. A lot has changed in the past few years though. dating scene used to be much established but now it's hit or miss.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 54, moved here 9 years ago from Austin. I've lived in Uptown and Pine Hills, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Close to major attractions
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Limited shopping options
3. The safety situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for families. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Pine Hills: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Austin, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $60K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
