Moving to Walpole -what should I know?

Alright, I'm originally from Nashville and Median household income is $132,411, which feels pretty solid for the area. It's a a small town city with about 5,989 people. With a population of 5,989, Walpole is a small town. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Any advice would be great. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Austin it's surprisingly good.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

Bought a house here in 2016 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 25, moved here 11 years ago from Austin. I've lived in South and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Friendly community, easy to meet people
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Nightlife is limited
3. The traffic situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for remote workers. decent vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Austin, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $90K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a data analyst, 42, moved here 10 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in South and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Friendly community, easy to meet people
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Can feel isolated
3. The cultural scene situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for couples. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $40K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
