Dog-friendly places in Walterboro?

OK so Average temperature is around 64--F, so the weather is moderate. Homes are going for about $170,500 on average. Poverty rate is 30.6%, which is higher than I expected. Household incomes average around $48,366 in Walterboro. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Let me know your thoughts. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a lawyer, 26, moved here 8 years ago from Baltimore. I've lived in Springfield and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Low crime in most neighborhoods
3. Good internet infrastructure
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Not very walkable outside downtown
3. The job market situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Springfield: Great for remote workers. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $50K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Compared to Denver it's decent.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want school system, then yeah this place is great. But if school system matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Sunset for 5 years. Moved from Nashville for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
retail is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Sunset schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Chain restaurants dominate. And traffic can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
