Best apartments in Waltham under ?

Curious what people think. We're a young couple and The unemployment rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. Poverty rate is 4.3%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $705,700, which is pretty steep. Crime rate is something to consider -Waltham sits at 162.6 per 100K. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Good job market
- Nice parks and trails
- Low taxes
- Lots of new development

Cons:
- Sprawl everywhere
- Not very walkable
- Limited dining options
Worth the trade-offs? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Dallas about 5 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are stable, gas is improving.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely challenging and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
