Thinking about relocating to Waltham from St. Louis
Alright, I'm single, late 40s, and Median household income is $116,560, which feels pretty solid for the area. You can expect to pay around $2,232 for rent here. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. What would you do? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

I've lived in West for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The nightlife scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
