My experience has been mostly positive. I have mixed feelings honestly. The only thing I'd watch out for is job market. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in West. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in education. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Southern.
No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 10 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I'm a contractor and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. The community is excellent and there's always something going on.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Old Town. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in construction. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
