So, I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Has anyone dealt with this? Thanks in advance! Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The public transit scene is tough
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to Minneapolis it's solid.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from San Diego about 11 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are growing, gas is underrated.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Happy to answer more specific questions..
