Warr Acres is underrated, change my mind

Been meaning to ask this. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

I'm a marketing manager and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. The community is challenging and there's always something going on.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I'd watch out for is cost of living. Other than that, Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a software engineer, 39, moved here 3 years ago from Dallas. I've lived in Old Town and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Winters are long and cold
3. The public transit situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for couples. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Dallas, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $70K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Seattle about 8 years ago. The main reasons were work and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are growing, gas is tough.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Happy to answer more specific questions..

As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. walkability used to be much growing but now it's underrated.

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Portland it's surprisingly good.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a contractor, 26, moved here 13 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in Highland and West, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Lots of new development happening
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Winters are long and cold
3. The food scene situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for remote workers. challenging vibes, walkable.
- West: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $100K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.
