I'm a college student here and Homes are going for about $181,900 on average. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Worth the trade-offs? Cheers. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

I've lived in Fairview for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure
- The dating scene scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Fairview. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in legal. If you're in education you might struggle.

I've been in Riverside for 1 years. Moved from Tampa for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.
**Employment:**
finance is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is surprisingly good - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Downtown) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
