Couple moving to Warrensburg from out of state

I'm single, late 40s, and The median home value here is around $216,900, which is actually reasonable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Appreciate any input. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

I'm a data analyst and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.

Used to live on the Lakewood side, now on the Midtown side. Completely different vibe. it was the best decision I ever made.

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 2 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Moved here from Atlanta about 14 years ago. I love the pace of life here. Still getting used to safety but Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Dallas about 6 years ago. The main reasons were work and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are stable, gas is tough.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in The Heights for 7 years. Moved from San Francisco for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. The Heights schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Property taxes are high. And public transit can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 5/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I genuinely enjoy living here.
