Day-to-day life in Warwick, RI

First post here. I've been here for 11 years and Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. Rent is about $1,299/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $1,299 for rent here. Homes are going for about $322,000 on average. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Lots of new development
- Walkable downtown

Cons:
- Rising rent prices
- Not very walkable
- Chain restaurants dominate
Thoughts? Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in West. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in government. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Used to live on the The Heights side, now on the Riverside side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.
