Housing in Wasco compared to Salt Lake City

First post here. The median home value here is around $251,900, which seems about average. With a population of 26,222, Wasco is a smaller city. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Thoughts? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Seattle about 5 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good internet infrastructure
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are competitive, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely tough and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Fairview) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
