Moving to Waseca for work -advice?

Been meaning to ask this. I relocated for work and With a population of 9,209, Waseca is a small town. Crime rate is something to consider -Waseca sits at 169.7 per 100K. The median home value here is around $185,600, which is actually reasonable. It's a a small town city with about 9,209 people. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 3 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

Moved here from LA about 1 years ago. I genuinely enjoy living here. Still getting used to public transit but It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Phoenix about 11 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 11 years here, that's my honest assessment.
