Moving from Adams Morgan to Woodley Park - good idea?

The community in Capitol Hill is really tight-knit.

With a population of 672,079, the city has a {city_feel}. Crime rate at 977.1/100K residents is something to {crime_feel}.

I feel like Washington is becoming more expensive without getting better. People here are friendlier than I expected coming from Dallas.

Would love local perspectives.

I've lived in both Shaw and Petworth. Completely different vibes. Grocery prices are creeping up but still manageable..

Renter's perspective: it's steep but the location is great. I'm in Brookland and it's underrated. Definitely shop around though.

Renter's perspective: honestly it's worth it. I'm in Dupont Circle and it's solid. Definitely shop around though.

OK let me break this down from someone who's been here a while.

Capitol Hill vs Logan Circle: completely different vibes. Capitol Hill is more hit or miss with families and quiet streets. Logan Circle is lively and better for retirees.

Cost-wise, expect /mo minimum for anything decent in Capitol Hill. In Logan Circle you can find stuff for /mo.

I don't understand why more people don't talk about {hood}.. The parks system here is underrated.

Just to add another data point - we moved from Atlanta about 10 years ago. Cost of living is {col_feel} compared to where I came from.. No regrets so far.

Let me give you the perspective nobody asked for but everyone needs.

I've lived in Georgetown, Cleveland Park, and currently in Adams Morgan. Each one feels like a different city honestly.

Rent comparison:
- Georgetown: /mo for a 2-bed
- Cleveland Park: about /mo
- Adams Morgan: /mo but pretty good

I feel like {city} is becoming more expensive without getting better.. The key is finding your neighborhood. Once you do, Washington really clicks.

Gonna share a detailed perspective since most replies are pretty surface-level.

I'm a teacher in Brookland. Been here since 2016. Grocery prices are creeping up but still manageable..

Neighborhood-wise, Brookland has really grown in the past few years. Capitol Hill is the up-and-coming spot right now. Petworth is where I'd look if budget is a concern.

Job market for real estate: decent. For engineering: affordable.

Downtown has improved dramatically since I first moved here.

Good luck!
