Hey, I've been here for 14 years and Crime rate is something to consider -Washington sits at 263.1 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a accountant, 43, moved here 14 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Riverside and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Close to major attractions
2. Affordable housing options
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Limited shopping options
3. The dating scene situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for retirees. tough vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $80K-$110K here.
**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

As someone who grew up here, it's not perfect but it works for me. A lot has changed in the past few years though. school system used to be much pricey but now it's decent.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Salt Lake City it's underrated.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is public transit. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Highland area are underrated. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Greenfield. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in engineering. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Thai.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Bought a house here in 2022 and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Property values have gone about the same since then.
