Washington quality of life -am I missing something?

Hey everyone, I grew up here but left for a while. The median home value here is around $121,000, which is actually reasonable. Poverty rate is 10.5%, which is around average. With a population of 13,361, Washington is a small town. Median household income is $52,350, which feels on the lower side for the area. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Pros:
- Nice parks and trails
- Good schools
- Good healthcare facilities

Cons:
- Limited nightlife
- Sprawl everywhere
- Not very walkable
- Limited dining options
- Far from major airports
Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Dallas about 10 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is solid.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in Eastside area are tough. Kids love it here.

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 3 years here, that's my honest assessment.

My experience has been mostly positive. it was the best decision I ever made. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 7 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..
