I'm originally from Nashville and Homes are going for about $233,400 on average. Average temperature is around 65--F, so the weather is moderate. Household incomes average around $91,669 in Watauga. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

I've been living here for 10 years and I'd say the quality of life is solid. The walkability is surprisingly good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 9 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely improving and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 9 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
