Best neighborhoods to rent in Watchung?

Random thought, Crime rate is something to consider -Watchung sits at 16.5 per 100K. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. What neighborhoods would you suggest? The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Bought a house here in 2016 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Bought a house here in 2021 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Riverside area are pretty good. Kids love it here.

We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in Pine Hills area are solid. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Midtown. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in engineering. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Hope this helps!.

I work in education here and it exceeded my expectations. The job market for my field is improving. No regrets on my end..
