Working remotely from Waterbury

Born and raised here. The median home value here is around $185,400, which is actually reasonable. Homes are going for about $185,400 on average. The weather takes some getting used to. Has anyone dealt with this? Thanks for reading.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I love the pace of life here. Definitely worth checking out..

Hot take but I'm still on the fence after all this time. I know a lot of people disagree but after 14 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 13 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a data analyst, 57, moved here 12 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in Riverside and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The nightlife situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for couples. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $70K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I work in finance here and it's been a really good experience overall. The job market for my field is tough. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say the quality of life is solid. The walkability is surprisingly good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..
