Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from New York about 10 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Rising rent and home prices

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are affordable, gas is solid.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if food scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
