Alright, Just moved here 6 months ago and With a population of 16,704, Waterville is a small town. It's a a small town city with about 16,704 people. Average temperature is around 45--F, so expect cold winters. You can expect to pay around $957 for rent here. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Am I overthinking this? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 3 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value public transit, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely excellent and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Midtown) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
