Working remotely from Waterville

I've been here for 9 years and Average temperature is around 45--F, so expect cold winters. Median household income is $47,489, which feels on the lower side for the area. With a population of 16,704, Waterville is a small town. Rent is about $957/month for a decent place. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Would love some local perspective. TIA! The city has invested a lot in new development. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

I've lived in North for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
- The safety scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Used to live on the Maple Ridge side, now on the Downtown side. Completely different vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here.
