Anyone else feel this way? My family moved here when I was a kid. With a population of 10,285, Watervliet is a small town. Rent is about $1,076/month for a decent place. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. dating scene used to be much wild but now it's challenging.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value safety, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely underrated and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (West) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
