Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Compared to Portland it's decent.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Baltimore about 14 years ago. The main reasons were family and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are competitive, gas is excellent.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Happy to answer more specific questions..
