We're a young couple and It's a a smaller city city with about 43,591 people. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 5 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Bought a house here in 2019 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone down slightly since then.
