Came here for retirement and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The cultural scene is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is job market. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.

Used to live on the East side, now on the Cedar Grove side. Completely different vibe. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Seattle about 9 years ago. The main reasons were weather and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Four distinct seasons
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are stable, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
