Curious what people think. We're a young couple and Average temperature is around 67--F, so the weather is moderate. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Thanks in advance! Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 5 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from LA about 4 years ago. The main reasons were family and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong job market in several industries
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is challenging.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want housing market, then yeah this place is great. But if public transit matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
