Curious what people think. I'm a college student here and With a population of 1,140, Wayland is a small town. You can expect to pay around $693 for rent here. The suburbs are where most families end up. Am I wrong here? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.

Came here for family and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The walkability is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The weather is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Springfield for 9 years. Moved from Miami for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.
**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Springfield schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Limited entertainment options. And dating scene can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 5/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from New York about 8 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are stable, gas is excellent.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
