Hello, I'm a 26-year-old police officer and Median household income is $36,156, which feels on the lower side for the area. With a population of 5,700, Waynesboro is a small town. The unemployment rate is 6.4%, which is concerning. Poverty rate is 35.7%, which is higher than I expected. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. What would you do? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Dallas about 14 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good internet infrastructure
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are growing, gas is challenging.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 5 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
