Waynesboro is underrated, change my mind

You can expect to pay around $1,027 for rent here. The weather takes some getting used to.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely underrated and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (East) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much affordable but now it's challenging.

The food scene here is decent. Tons of great Southern places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a teacher, 40, moved here 4 years ago from San Francisco. I've lived in Fairview and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The walkability situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Fairview: Great for remote workers. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Francisco, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $70K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 10 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..
