We're a young couple and Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. With a population of 22,574, Waynesboro is a small town. Crime rate is something to consider -Waynesboro sits at 251.0 per 100K. Median household income is $56,364, which feels about average for the area. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Anyone in a similar situation? TIA! The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Baltimore about 4 years ago. The main reasons were family and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good internet infrastructure
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are affordable, gas is improving.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Cedar Grove. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in real estate. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Southern.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

The food scene here is decent. Tons of great craft beer places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 4 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
