Hey, Average temperature is around 58--F, so the weather is moderate. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Am I wrong here? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Charlotte about 15 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are wild, gas is decent.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in The Heights. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like seafood.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.
