Is Weddington walkable?

Longtime lurker here, I'm originally from Omaha and You can expect to pay around $2,205 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Weddington sits at 59.9 per 100K. With a population of 13,468, Weddington is a small town. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Has anyone dealt with this? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

I've lived in Westside for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Four distinct seasons
- Strong sense of community
- The food scene scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a teacher, 43, moved here 11 years ago from Boston. I've lived in Downtown and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited entertainment options
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The traffic situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Downtown: Great for families. solid vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Boston, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $60K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Midtown. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in retail. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The healthcare is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

- Good schools in most areas
- Active local events and festivals
- The healthcare scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. Hope this helps!.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

- The safety scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
