Hello, The median home value here is around $271,200, which seems about average. It's a a small town city with about 1,059 people. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Thoughts?

Bought a house here in 2022 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much reasonable but now it's average.

I've lived in Uptown for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities
- The job market scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it exceeded my expectations. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from Minneapolis about 4 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are reasonable, gas is better than expected.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Hope this helps!.
