Weldon Spring vs San Diego -which is better?

Random thought, Homes are going for about $523,300 on average. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. TIA!

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Eastside for 4 years. Moved from Seattle for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor scene is average - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Eastside schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Chain restaurants dominate. Limited shopping options. And housing market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 6/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is better than expected in most areas.

I've lived in Springfield for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
- The cultural scene scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited high-paying job options

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. Happy to answer more specific questions..

My experience has been mostly positive. it was the best decision I ever made. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Used to live on the Sunset side, now on the Midtown side. Completely different vibe. it's been a really good experience overall.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 8 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely average and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Portland, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
