Piper Price moving

Moving from New York to Wellington next month

I'm single, late 50s, and You can expect to pay around $2,445 for rent here. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The outdoor recreation is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a sales manager, 35, moved here 12 years ago from Dallas. I've lived in South and East, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The outdoor recreation situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for singles. challenging vibes, walkable.
- East: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Dallas, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $100K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want safety, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
