Remote worker thinking about Wellington

Random thought, Military spouse here. Crime rate is something to consider -Wellington sits at 98.0 per 100K. Household incomes average around $110,294 in Wellington. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Anyone in a similar situation? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Used to live on the South side, now on the Downtown side. Completely different vibe. it's been a really good experience overall.

Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The safety is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Public transit is hit or miss here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Uptown area are excellent. Kids love it here.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Cedar Grove. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in marketing. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. the quality of life is solid. Compared to Phoenix it's decent.
