Hello, The median home value here is around $195,400, which is actually reasonable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. TIA!

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to LA it's improving.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Greenfield. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Houston about 15 years ago. The main reasons were work and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Decent public transit for the size
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are manageable, gas is tough.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.
