Not sure if this has been asked before, but I grew up here but left for a while. Rent is about $2,000/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $2,000 for rent here. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from Miami about 5 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are developing, gas is better than expected.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 7 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good internet infrastructure
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are established, gas is decent.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Hope this helps!.

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.
