With a population of 59,588, West Allis is a smaller city. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Bought a house here in 2015 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

I work in legal here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is challenging. Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Oak Park for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Affordable housing options
- The school system scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Charlotte about 11 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are stable, gas is improving.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Old Town. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Indian.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Houston it's better than expected.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The dating scene is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The walkability is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
