I'm originally from Omaha and Homes are going for about $490,500 on average. Crime rate is something to consider -West Babylon sits at 119.0 per 100K. Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. What neighborhoods would you suggest? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The cost of living is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

Bought a house here in 2019 and the quality of life is solid. Property values have gone about the same since then.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The pet-friendliness is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in East. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like sushi.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Tampa it's hit or miss.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is decent in most areas.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in The Heights. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Thai.
No regrets on my end..

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The walkability scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
