West Bend vs Dallas -which is better?

Random thought, You can expect to pay around $1,033 for rent here. Median household income is $75,043, which feels about average for the area. Poverty rate is 4.8%, which is pretty low. With a population of 31,722, West Bend is a smaller city. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Is this normal for West Bend? The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much reasonable but now it's underrated.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a sales manager, 27, moved here 14 years ago from Denver. I've lived in Midtown and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Low crime in most neighborhoods
3. Lots of new development happening
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Homeless population growing downtown
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The safety situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for singles. improving vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $100K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I'm a chef and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.
