Hey everyone, Been living here since 2008. Homes are going for about $244,500 on average. With a population of 31,722, West Bend is a smaller city. Poverty rate is 4.8%, which is pretty low. The unemployment rate is 2.0%, which is pretty low. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. What would you do? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The cost of living is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in The Heights. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in legal. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 11 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Greenfield for 10 years. Moved from Raleigh for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
legal is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is solid - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Greenfield schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Limited shopping options. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 9/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've lived in Midtown for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Close to major attractions
- The dating scene scene is solid
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a teacher, 27, moved here 10 years ago from Miami. I've lived in Oak Park and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Low crime in most neighborhoods
3. Lots of new development happening
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Road conditions need improvement
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The school system situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Oak Park: Great for retirees. underrated vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $60K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've been here 2 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value job market, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely tough and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Springfield) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Bugs and humidity in summer.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
