Alright, Just moved here 11 months ago and You can expect to pay around $1,632 for rent here. The unemployment rate is 0.6%, which is pretty low. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Thoughts?

I've lived in Lakewood for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The community vibe scene is average
The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Hope this helps!.

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, the quality of life is solid. No regrets on my end..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Highland for 2 years. Moved from Raleigh for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.
**Employment:**
education is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Highland schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited entertainment options. Far from beaches/mountains. And community vibe can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 5/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Greenfield. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in tech. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like sushi.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

People: Generally improving. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's not perfect but it works for me. The only thing I'd watch out for is cost of living. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The traffic is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
